Welcome to Tarong West Wind Farm

A new wind farm project in Australia

October 2024 Update

Based on feedback from the local community RES has committed to undertake a baseline dust monitoring assessment along key roads that are proposed to be used for accessing the Project site during construction in areas near the Project. The results will be used as a baseline and point of comparison for future assessments during the construction phase of the Project. This assessment will begin before the end of the year and is expected to continue for a minimum of 6 months.

RES is working to finalise the Public Environment Report for the Project’s EPBC Assessment by the Federal Government. Part of the assessment process will involve a public comment period, currently expected to occur in Quarter 1 2025. We will advise further information on the timing of the public comment period in future newsletters.

August 2024 Update

RES is in the process of appointing an Independent Chairperson for the proposed CCC. Once appointed, applicants for the CCC will be contacted to enable the final confirmation of the committee.

Thank you to those who have registered interest for further pre-construction background noise monitoring at properties neighbouring the Project. The Project team is appointing a consultant to undertake the monitoring in late 2024 and will provide further information directly to interested property owners.

Acknowledgement of Country

In planning for Australia's clean energy future, RES acknowledges its rich history. We Acknowledge the Wakka Wakka and Auburn Hawkwood Peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the Country on which the Tarong West Wind Farm Project is proposed. We recognise their ongoing connection to land and waterways, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

The Project

RES is proposing to develop the Tarong West Wind Farm, located within the South Burnett Council area, approximately 30km west of Kingaroy and 8km north-west of Kumbia.

Following preliminary assessments, RES has spent much of 2022 reaching out to the local community to understand the potential impacts and opportunities that may flow from a renewable energy project in the region.

If developed, the Tarong West Wind Farm will deliver significant local benefits within the proposed Southern Queensland Renewable Energy Zone (Southern QREZ), through local employment opportunities and benefit sharing programs with the local community.
